Art Survey is designed to excite and educate your budding artist! Your students will learn about some of the major art movements and artists and how they have influenced our world today. Additionally, they will be able to create their own masterpieces inspired by these artists and apply these understandings firsthand. This class is a perfect fit for students who want to have fun while learning. This is lab course, so a materials fee will apply. Request more information
Science Explorer feeds students' inquisitive nature about the natural world around them! In each class, students will discuss a new topic in the life or physical sciences, and then explorer and apply the topic in a fun and interactive activity. Logic Detective fuels and sharpens students' investigative and analytical thinking! In each class, students will discuss a new topic in logic and analysis and then apply that topic in a fun and interactive activity across a broad array of disciplines, including language arts, mathematics, science, and engineering. Students will use both the Android OS and Apple technologies to design a trifunctional app with home screen, messaging, and other functions. Students at the highschool level will also engage in research to understand the user experience and make design decisions accordingly. There is no materials fee. Request more information
Students will learn how to design and set-up a website, focusing on how to merge the technical and aesthetic design elements of creating a webpage for personal or academic/business use. There is no materials fee. Request more information
Students will take apart a computer, learn about each component’s functions and costs, and then build their own computer. Understanding component costs in light of the user’s needs will be emphasized to help students become wise consumers. Students may use the provided computer collaboratively, but are encouraged to build their own, personalized computer, based upon their needs and specifications. Materials are provided, but students may purchase materials and bring them to class if they opt to create their own computer. Request more information
Students will learn the fundamentals of how software programming works and how computers are used to control electronics and other things we use every day. Students will gain core knowledge of how to write code and program a Raspberry Pi and other electronics for hands-on applications. There is a materials fee for the Raspberry Pi and other components, but they may keep them at the end of the course. Request more information
High School Competitive Mathematics builds and develops the necessary problem-solving skills and mathematical knowledge required for math competitions such as the American Mathematics Competition 10 (AMC 10). Students will apply and expand on classroom learned skills involving algebra, basic geometry, area and volume formulas, elementary number theory, and elementary probability. Each class, students will expand their problem solving abilities and apply test taking strategies to problems from past exams. Request more information
In our AP Physics course, students study vectors, kinematics, force, work and energy to ensure they have a solid grasp of the first semester of the AP Physics concepts taught at local schools. Students will develop vital skills necessary for their upcoming school year while learning through a mix of lecture, projects, exploration and analysis, discussions, and metacognitive activities. In our AP Computer Science course, students study Java fundamentals, and learn about both some of the inner workings and the specialized features of object-oriented programming, to ensure they have a good foundation of the concepts necessary for AP Computer Science.
